Well, anyway the first one of these I participated in was the purple exchange. Shortly after getting my purple fabrics back I got the book Sunday Morning Quilts by Amanda Jean Nyberg and Cheryl Arkison. This was just the inspiration I need for these purple strips if fabric. I decided that the Sunday Morning Quilt by Cheryl Arkison was the perfect fit for these fabrics.
It is not quite the same as in the book, but I wanted to work with what I had. I think it worked. Don't you?
I machine sew the binding of my quilts. This time I tried an new stitch. I am not quite perfect at this, but I kind of like it.
I just did a simple back.
I am very happy with this quilt.

Love the quilt! I've been doing the zigzag around the binding too and I'm getting a lot better at it. I kind of like how easy it is and how it's not as obvious when I don't go as straight as I could.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love this quilt. I'm a huge purple fan and have a whole tote of purples I could use to make something similar. Great job on this quilt.
ReplyDeleteI like the stitch you used for the binding. I need to discover more of my stitches on my machine. Congrats on the finish - hopping around and found you from WIP.
ReplyDeleteA fabric swap would be so much fun! You got a great mixture of purples and your quilt looks great! I am stopping by from the WIP blog hop. I have my WIPs up today if you want to stop by :)http://domesticdeficitdisorder.blogspot.com/2012/09/this-weeks-wips.html
ReplyDeleteLove the purple!
ReplyDeleteLove the monochromatic scheme! I haven't gotten involved in any swaps yet, I need to try it! Nice job - found you on Freshly Pieced! Lily.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm REALLY sorry that I didn't participate in the purple swap...but am very eager to see what's in the mail from the 5" charm block swap...You did a lovely job & have inspired me to do something similar for a baby quilt. What do you think of shades of yellow?
ReplyDeleteOooo. I think yellows would be lovely! I am excited by the 5" charm exchange also. I am sure their should be a great variety of fabrics to work with. I can wait to see what project get made. Thanks! Jera
DeleteI see my fabric in your quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteI am the washed strip hostess over on Yahoo.

Thanks for putting on these great swaps. I love these scrappy patchwork quilts. I still have to figure out what I want to make with the blues and cann't wait to see what comes back from the 5" square and pinks swaps.

I really love the look of the binding. I think it gives it a little extra oomph and is really unique. I myself, am more drawn to unique binding I don't like things to be too "perfect" with hidden seams etc. I like personality.
